The Opinion Network
State | Interaction Designer | 2013-2014
State is an intelligent opinion network with ambitions of democratising the internet. Led by Alex Asseily (founder of Jawbone) Nick Jacobi, Alex Nako, Mischa Tuffield and Sir Tim Berners-Lee, I worked with an amazing team building a powerful Semantic platform — connecting a rich Topic Graph with Natural Language Processing — to power the world's first Opinion Network.

On State, it’s what you think that matters, not who you know. The idea is simple: to turn the social media landscape on its head and give everyone a platform to be heard, not just the famous.

I played a key role in various stages of the product’s development, from translating the founding vision into user stories and defining feature sets, to prototyping user flows and the final design and delivery of various multi-platform UIs.

Forming part of a smal design team – and in a startup environment – I was involved with the design of many product touch points, such as:
User on-boarding via organic search and social sharing loops
User moderation tools and management
Browser extension tools for stating opinions on 3rd party sites
Marketing communication and platform emails
User moderation
Commenting and @-mentions
Today, the native apps and site no longer exist, but you can read a little more about the founding vision on state.com
